« Lettres à une amie » by Georges Clemenceau

This collection of letters from 1923 to 1929 provides an intimate portrait of Clemenceau after his failed Presidential bid and withdrawal from politics. The correspondence is with Marguerite Baldensperger, a young woman who had approached Clemenceau with a book project that was realized in 1926 (Demosthenes). Written while in his 80s, the letters are full of life and often sharply critical of the political situation at the time.
